Position Summary: The Area Director of Sales directs the activities of assigned specialist staff and provides sales-related support to market management to ensure area sales and profit targets are achieved or exceeded. Identifies high-dollar prospects within an assigned area, makes sales calls, prepares/delivers sales presentations, and gathers/organizes information for use in proposal/contract pricing. Supervises, develops, and trains the sales team to improve selling effectiveness.
Pay: $110,000/YR to $130,000/YR
Essential Duties:
- Directs the activities of assigned specialist staff and provides sales-related support to market management to ensure area sales and profit targets are achieved or exceeded
- Works with Sales Management to implement appropriate sales structure and prioritizes key customers in accordance with market sales plan
- Assesses market and establishes with management and territory staff sales, strategic goals and tactics to increase market revenue
- Prioritizes accounts to comply with corporate sales plans and makes contacts with appropriate management levels within client organizations
- Manages, directs, and trains the sales team and oversees their activities to ensure the team is meeting/exceeding assigned sales targets
- Works with Sales Management to develop and execute specific annual strategic plan/budget and prepares quarterly sales updates to ensure achievement of established sales goals and compliance with established budgetary constraints. Manages sales time and resources according to plan
- Makes sales calls to target organizations and appropriate physician groups
- Prepares/delivers sales presentations that effectively address clients’ needs and follow up to provide additional information, answer questions, resolve outstanding issues, and close sales
- Gathers/organizes information on target accounts for use in proposal/contract pricing
- Forwards pricing-related information to appropriate management staff to ensure consistency/profitability and track actual sales against account targets
- Targets insurance companies, preferred providers’ organizations, health organizations, and case management firms
- Establishes/maintains working relationships with key line, contracts, marketing, clinical, and specialty management staff to ensure a thorough understanding of Company products/services
- Ensures sales staff is kept abreast of assigned product lines/services
- Maintains accurate target lists and territory management systems records
- Participates in special projects, quarterly Customer Appreciation Week events, and specialty program launches
- Maintains a high degree of confidentiality at all times due to access to sensitive information
- Maintains regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department
- Follows all Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA regulations and requirements
- Abides by all regulations, policies, procedures and standards
- Performs other duties as assigned

Position Requirements & Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Health-related Science or related field Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in health care sales or related industry sales.
- Broad knowledge of the insurance, case management, home health and/or hospice, self-insured and managed care marketplace and marketing/sales techniques
- Outstanding Leadership and managerial skills: able to direct a team
- Extensive Travel required 50-75%
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required
